A Class A/B CDL Driver is responsible for transporting goods and materials to various locations in a safe and efficient manner. Experience is required for this position. The driver ensures timely deliveries while maintaining the vehicle, following all traffic regulations, and providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate commercial vehicles, such as tractor-trailers (Class A) or straight trucks (Class B), in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Deliver freight, materials, or goods to designated destinations on time and in accordance with schedule requirements.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicles are in proper working condition, including checking tires, brakes, lights, and other essential systems.
- Assist in the safe loading and unloading of cargo, ensuring proper handling and securing of goods to prevent damage.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for deliveries, considering traffic, weather, and road conditions.
- Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, hours worked, fuel usage, and vehicle maintenance, in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Perform minor maintenance and repairs on the truck, including regular cleaning, oil changes, and tire checks. Report major issues to maintenance staff for repair.
- Provide excellent customer service by delivering goods in a courteous and professional manner, ensuring the proper handling of any special delivery instructions.
- Follow all local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including hours of service, weight limits, and safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A or B CDL with a clean driving record. (or a Licencia Federal de Conductor )
- Proven experience as a commercial driver or in a similar transportation role.
- Ability to operate a variety of commercial vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Good physical condition and ability to load/unload materials as required.
- Strong time management and route planning skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Education
- Degree studying an agricultural practice.
